About Early Bird Movers

A licensed, insured San Antonio moving company built on honest quotes and crews who know what they are doing.

Who we are

Early Bird Movers has spent 15 years moving homes and businesses across San Antonio and throughout Texas. We are licensed by the State of Texas, we carry insurance, and we hire professional movers rather than day laborers.

Our reservation agents are not commission salespeople. They are trained to explain how the move will actually go and to disclose everything up front, so that the number we quote you is the number you plan around. From your first phone call you get one point of contact who stays with you through the whole move.

We work seven days a week, including Sundays, and we take last-minute and expedited moves when we have a truck free.

Our guarantee

Three promises we make on every job.

1. The price we quote is the price

We disclose the hourly rate and the trip fee before you book. No stair fees, no long walk fees, no charge for shrink wrap or extra padding, and no line items appearing at the end that nobody mentioned at the start.

2. Your things are protected and covered

Every piece of furniture is blanket wrapped and shrink wrapped before it goes on the truck. Your belongings are covered while they are in our care, and we are licensed and insured to do this work.

3. We tell you the truth

If we cannot do your move, or cannot do it on the day you want, we will say so instead of over-promising to get the booking. If something goes wrong, you will hear it from us first.

Licensing & credentials

Ask any mover for these before you hire them. Here are ours.

Insured

We carry insurance covering your goods while they are in our care. We are happy to provide a certificate of insurance for your building or property manager on request.

Questions we get asked most

What should I look for in a moving company?

Three things: licensed, bonded and insured. Owning a truck or a trailer does not make someone a mover. If a company does not carry the proper registrations, licenses and insurance, and something is damaged, filing a claim becomes difficult or impossible.

The other thing to check is experience. Moving is a skill. It takes practice to pack and load a truck so things do not shift and break in transit. Hiring an experienced crew usually saves you money, because the odds of damage and the time spent filing claims both drop.

How long does a move take?

It depends on the size of the shipment, how long it takes to load and unload, how far you are going, the time of year and even the weather. Access matters a lot too — a ground-floor house with a driveway loads faster than a third-floor apartment with a long carry.

When you call, tell us the number of bedrooms and describe the access at both ends. We can give you a realistic time window from that.

When should I call to book?

As soon as you know your date. We book on a first come, first served basis and we fill up fast. Weekends and the end of the month are the busiest times of all, so call early to reserve your spot.

Do I need an estimate, and does it cost anything?

Estimates are free and there is no obligation. One of our agents does a pre-move survey over the phone to work out roughly how much space your goods will take and what the move should cost, and we give you a written Estimate and Order for Service.

For a large home we send an estimator out to walk the property. An accurate estimate really does need eyes on the goods, and a walk-through is what makes the difference between a close estimate and a guess.

Do you charge extra for stairs or a long walk?

No. Stairs and long carries are included in our hourly rate. Shrink wrap and extra padding are included as well.

Do you move out of state?

Early Bird Movers is registered for household goods moves within Texas, and we run one-day moves to Dallas, Houston, Austin, Corpus Christi and South Texas. If your move crosses a state line, call us at 210-874-2989 and we will tell you honestly whether we can take it.

What do you do to protect my furniture?

Every piece is blanket wrapped and shrink wrapped before it goes on the truck, at no extra charge. We protect floors and doorways at both ends, and our trucks carry proper pads, dollies and straps so nothing shifts on the road.

How do I pay?

We accept credit and debit cards. We will send you a secure payment link, so you never have to read a card number out over the phone.

Still have a question?

Call and ask. We would rather spend five minutes on the phone now than have you find out something on moving day.
